Main Responsibilities

Business Development Manager's Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Business Growth & Sales Development
    1. Analyse sales trends across all Subway stores and implement strategies to achieve year-on-year revenue growth.
    2. Identify opportunities for new business initiatives, partnerships, and local marketing campaigns to increase footfall.
    3. Oversee promotions, loyalty programmes, and upselling techniques to maximise average transaction value.
  • Operational & Performance Management
    1. Monitor store performance KPIs (sales, labour cost, wastage, customer satisfaction) and implement action plans for improvement.
    2. Develop and enforce standard operating procedures to maintain consistency across all branches.
    3. Support store managers with strategic planning to optimise extended operating hours and improve profitability.
  • Staff Training & Development
    1. Work closely with Restaurant Managers to ensure effective staff training in sales, customer service, and compliance.
    2. Identify skill gaps and introduce structured training programmes to improve employee retention.
    3. Mentor management-level staff to prepare them for higher leadership roles.
  • Compliance & Standards
    1. Ensure all stores comply with Subway brand standards, health & safety regulations, food hygiene laws, and employment legislation.
    2. Oversee audits, implement corrective measures, and maintain full compliance with franchisor requirements.
  • Financial & Market Analysis
    1. Prepare financial forecasts and budgets in collaboration with company directors.
    2. Conduct competitor analysis and market research to adapt pricing, product offering, and promotions.
    3. Report regularly on performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Strategic Expansion & Innovation
    1. Evaluate opportunities for new store openings or acquisitions within the territory.
    2. Lead digital growth strategies, including delivery platforms (UberEats, JustEat, Deliveroo) and online customer engagement.
    3. Explore sustainability initiatives to reduce costs and enhance brand reputation.

The Ideal Candidate

Education: A-levels or equivalent, College or University degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of Two (2) years in QSR environment, with at least 2 years multi site management or retail experience. Strong franchise and commercial understanding, proven ability to grow sales and improve profitability, Excellent people and stakeholder management skills.
